i have the chance to take this oldie off a friend to save it from the scrap heap.
its in pretty poor cosmetic condition, so probaby only the frame and fork, mudguards, handle bars (maybe the stem) and brakes (possibly) are salvageable.
the wheels are fooked (the rear hub is a gonner - there is loads of play in the axle so i think some of the bearings must have disintegrated or just worked their way out somewhere).
this will be the first i've tackled a bike of this age, so just wondering how much i'm taking on here (e.g. parts availability/compatibility etc) - it'll be for the mrs as a surprise. i'd not bother with gears. just a nice easy cruising single speed conversion if possible....
