men in black

Not really a retro topic but I spotted another 2 today , both on their bikes,modern road bikes dressed head to foot in black . I recon this is verging on dangerous not wearing something bright .Perhaps with me not being at all trendy I,m missing a fashion craze , there just seems to be more and more folk dressed in all black on their road bikes lately.
I wonder if there's any thoughts on this.

I blame Wiggo and his Team Sky buddies, loads of people round here with predominantly black gear.

It's always been the case. Back in the 50s then time triallists were encouraged to be inconspicuous. Remember that road racing had been banned and people were anxious that TTing didn't go the same way.

Anyway, if you've seen people in non-black cycling shorts, you would agree that it is not simply a fashion rule.

Interesting comments guys , certainly these men in black are going quickly , they must think they ,re racing,certainly don't look like enjoying themseves.
