Have the SRAM on my bike and have been offered the Shimano.

Shimano is original spec for my bike. The ratios are both 11-34, they both have little wear and I can probably sell the SRAM for what I can get the Shimano for. The question is, will I be downgrading?

Please do not respond to this thread with any anti Shimano or anti SRAM opinions. I am interested in side by side performance/weight/durability etc only.

Thanks

I've never found there to be much in it to be honest...I think Shimano cassettes shift slightly better.

They both seem about as durable as each other. I had a PG990 cassette and it lasted ages.

Personally I wouldn't bother unless you particularly want to get the bike back to factory spec.

Had a PG990 on my daily ride, which does at least 10 miles a day, and it lasted about 18 months so not bad really. Last XT one I had was an 8 speed and that ran for 15 months doing prob 15 miles a day. I change chains every six months or so.
