i did have 2 vulcans one was the full disk model xc the other was the v or disk lower end model BUT WHY THE HELL WERE THE SEAT TUBES COMPLETLY A DIFFERANT SIZE :evil: :x
 
Newer bikes tend to be built for the ever increasing demands of modern riders trying to push the envelope so have fatter tubes for stiffer less flexy performance. Specialised for example do trickle down technology so a disc braked frame would have the most up to date features such as oversize tubes and a cheaper model would have last year or so's technology. If the new tech was a dead end it would be daft to have it on the entire range for any given year. New stuff will not be made in as much volume as the lower end stuff, the bread and butter kit. It would not be cost effective to have all bikes with the best kit.
Annoying though it is stuff cant stay the same or there would be no advances in technology. Also we retrobikers would get bored if the past was the same as now :LOL:
 
Lots of frames which previously took a 27.2mm seatpost have now got a larger seat tube which takes a 30.9mm seatpost as this seems to be the most common size currently.

And the bar clamp size is changing to 31.8 mostly. And a lot of frames now have disc mounts etc.
 
Tapered headsets and bolt through axles seem to be catching on as well.

3X7 gears are dead, 3x8 is uncomon the trend now for high end bikes seems to be 2x10.

Single speeders are making a stand as well.

29" wheels are also becoming more popular, (I'll be buying one soon :twisted: )

Pretty much everything has disc brakes now as well as 31.8mm clamps bars and stem.
