a crazy epic ride in spring

i keep thinking about doing a long distance voyage when it's wamer like traveling for a week or two but on bike and maybe ferry/railways

i'm thinking either head west or even better somewhere in europe , maybe meet up with riders from another area or something , any ideas?
 
bit of both really, plenty of offroad would be nice i love the great outdoors but obviously over long distance it wouldn't be a good idea to go completely offroad .. unless i'm planning to use railways between destinations .

I did this one a few years back

I followed the Danube from Passau in Germany to Vienna and on to Bratislava following the cycle route see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donauradweg
It can be organised through specialist German holiday companies and your baggage is transfered from one hotel to the next, so no heavy panniers :D
My companion had recently retired and is quite a small person, but made the 50 or so miles each day. The heat in July was somewhat brutal from mid day onwards.
