A friend has had a bike stolen, is it ok to post a picture spec etc. in the hope that someone may hear of the bike ?
Can i post a friends stolen bike post ?

I had this happen to my brother a while back - no luck in getting it back (yet) but I got in touch with the nearest LBS to him (albeit in Brum) & they advised me to get the details & a couple of pics & tweet to the local police force who then shared it with other police forces and LBS' in a network..
The other thing (if he hasn't done it) is to go to https://stolen-bikes.co.uk/ and log the details of the theft, the bike & put up pics. You can also run a search for new listings on findthatbike.co.uk of bikes each day. That won't help if it gets listed as 'bike' etc, but will if it's a Kona, GT or other more recognisable names. Their search engine aggregates Ebay, Gumtree and a few others to give search results.
