1980s Raleigh ace?

TRKnapp

Retro Newbie
I've seen this old road bike for sale on gumtree and i'm looking for a new project bike but don't know much about old road bikes. Anyone able to give me any information about it, what year it is, if it looks original etc?
Thanks

1980 seems about right.

It looks fairly original comparing it to this one:

If you decide to buy it be aware that this was very much a low-end model - now worth about £50 at the most. But if it you like it, it runs ok and it fits you - there's nothing wrong with that. :)

p.s. if you fancy a trip along the M4 this looks a bit more interesting:

That Bike in Swansea looks great, good spot thanks! Looks like its from the 1970s would that be about right?
Thanks!

Yep, it's lovely. A rub with wd40 and some cotten bartape fitted and it'll be stunning. From the catalogues (google will bring them up) It's circa 1971 although the wheels are 80s with alloy rims - originals would've been steel rimmed.
