I'm after a 39tooth ring.

Budget new ones seem to be about a tenner, but if anyone has either something nice at that price, or anything with plenty of life left for less then I'm interested.

Preferably without any silly ramps/pins etc, but not too fussy.

Cheers,

FWIW, Sheldon quotes 38 as the smallest 130 BCD ring.

Yep, still made by Stronglight, TA etc. Spa Cycles sell them new. I've got a couple - and they make all the difference over a 39 when you're not very fit!

Tell me about it, Ned. I grovelled up a local 'biggie' down here (Kingston Blount) with a 53/38 (inner ring, of course) and was offered a compact 48/34 as a straight swap.

Nearly bit the blokes hand off! :D

I'm old and slow enough to settle for a 5-tooth drop on both rings from the standard 53/39 pro set-up but am still mystified as to why 4th and 3rd cat. riders still go with the 53/39 set-up when riding at three-quarters of the speed! :?

I remember Kingston Blount...................................... :x

Got dragged up it once in my High Wycombe days.

Just the once................................ ;)

Cheers Guys.

Anyone got one for sale though? 38 or 39 would be fine.

Also, if not, am I better getting a Stronglight dural one over Shimano Sora or tiagra?

Ta,
Si F
