Been giving this a revamp today. Stripped off the 8 speed and replaced with 9 speed deore and rigid exotic forks from the now gone frankenbike. Also have some funky bars coming so a loose fitting until they arrive. Only thing I don't have is a half decent 9 speed triple crankset to swap for the nasty steel truvativ. That will be the next upgrade.

Bars had arrived when I got home. Alpkit Fu Manchu. Apparently somewhat rare.

I think it looks much better with the rigid forks etc. Much more businesslike. Setup and clean next.

It's a decent looking bike, and a nice tribute to your friend.

I'm a big fan of these style bars. How do you find them? I find going back to straighter bars weird now.

Considering your habit for building multicoloured bikes, you've also got some really aesthetically pleasing bikes in your stable.
