downtube bosses

hello i have an old 1953 king of mercia, mercian that i am renovating

still at the sorting out bits stage before painting

i am trying to figure out what gears were on it

it has bosses on down tube but very near top of downtube so would it be so kind of handlebar levers or stem levers

period Campagnolo can be very expensive (espesh '50's & '60's) - I use Suntour but even these are getting pricey.

Definitely for bar-end levers. Probably Campag but Simplex and Huret also made them.

will have to see

could try bar end sifters or just use down tube ones or stem shifters as i have spares of those
