I've got a mid-90s (based on RSX groupset) Dawes Competition Giro 300, not the lightest frame in the world and decals say its cro-mo. Does anyone know what tubing its made of?

Hmm, should have been a bit more specific...

Any ideas what particular flavour of cro-mo steel? Groupset is from 95-97 anyone got a Dawes catalgoue from that era? Is one of these:

Ive got a Giro 500 that im doing up at the moment and the tubing is just cro-mo. No particular tubing spec but by no means the worst Ive come across.
Quality is pretty good for a mid range and their second hand values arnt bad. Did you get yours off fleabay recently - I recall seeing a yellow one on there.
Cheers

Yeah, a few months ago. Pic is of one thats on there at the moment. The 'damage limitation paint system' seems to work well or mine just hadn't been used much. Mine was all original other than the wheels which had been swapped out for some older Mavic hubs and Open 4CD rims which would be better if it wasn't a freewheel rather than free hub rear.

Was just wondering what the actual tubing was, as you say it seems ok quality.
