Retro Newbie
Last week I rescued a bike from a metal skip at work, it is a Roger Hancock but I am stumped by the tube type. The top tube and down tube are "crimped" or "fluted". It looks like it could have been a nice bike before someone abused it and then left it to be scrapped. I have been told that Roger Hancock owned a cycle shop in Accrington and was a good frame builder. The seat post is jammed solid and frame and forks will need a total re-furb and as someone on a very limited budget I wanted to work out whether it was worth doing.

Any help will be hugely appreciated.

Columbus Gilco tubeset I suspect. Colnagos had it as a signature thing on some models, also Guercottis I think.

Rather nice!

Re:

Hi, Your frame is a Roger Haydock and not Roger Hancock ! . Roger Haydock used to run the `Henry Gregson` cycle shop on Blackburn Road in Accrington for many years until it closed about 3 or 4 years ago . He did build frames from time to time although I don`t believe in any great volume. I once bought a Henry Gregson stickered frame at a car boot sale which I suspect he also built . Henry Gregsons had been a family run shop in Accrington I think since about the 1930`s and I think Roger Haydock was possibly related in some way which is how he came to take over. You may be able to get further information from `Blood, sweat and Gears `a small cycle shop in Accrington which took over the Henry Gregson business and relocated to a smaller but more central location on Abbey street in Accrington. Hope this helps
