Hercules... worth buying?

I dont usually venture further than my retro mountain bikes, but a neighbour has an ancient Hercules (ladies) in lovely british racing green, basket & in decent working order. Has the super old pull brakes under the rims / lever brakes (not cables). Has "popular" written on the side of it. Looks very original with right components... £30

Are they worth collecting, something different for my retro collection? worth buying & selling on... or just a hunk of junk. Kinda like the idea of a retro shopping bike to hop on in our village (must be getting old -

)

Or buy and ride, guilt free start to the year and you have a popping to the shop bike.
Wouldn't take much to earn it's money back either way

£30 is about where it's at. You might make a few pounds more or get stuck with it. Having said that, worse things to get stuck with so buy it for yourself. The important thing is to save it from the skip.

My wife has a single speed war issue Hercules. Its a hoot to ride and the rod brakes are well up to the job. I love it.
