Looking for tips on restoring a Raleigh Head Badge, pics show a) what it should look like, and b, mine.
Looks like only the Heron was embossed, the rest is flat, design was painted or transferred on and its almost all worn off now.
I'd happily purchase a good replacement but I'm not seeing this version come up for sale in half-decent condition

You could repaint it using Humbrol Enamel Paint using Tamiya Masking Tape to mask off the lines, paper masking tape would be useless.

Or just polish the head badge and lacquer it.

Or you can ask this fine fella! He has loadsa badges...

JR Anderson at Velocals has a REALLY good decal like your head badge. Or you could possibly mail your head badge to him so he could scale the decal to fit exactly on the badge. This is the Raleigh 80th Anniversary Badge, used 1968-1970 on certain models.

I own one of these badges and when I received the decal from Michael Swantak (who did the original decal), I was amazed!

Time to get the small brushes out and go inquire about small tins of enamel paint :D

The problem is, unlike almost ALL other badges, most of the 80th anniversary badge is simply silk-screened onto smooth metal. There is a raised emblem in the middle for the Raleigh Heron and the Raleigh lettering, but there are NO raised edges for the rest of the design (concentric circles, heraldic flame, etc). You're on your own when it comes to repainting that badge !!
