first post.

yesterday, i traded a viola for an absolutely gorgeous claud butler road bike. i've spent most of the day cleaning it and generally rubbing it the right way ... allll over.

if anyone has information relating to it, please let me know:

- the serial number is: 12848 - anyone know when it was made?

- the word "NERVEX" is also stamped on the bottom - have any significance?

- the sticker on the frame says: "REYNOLDS 531 - RESPRAY." is there such a thing as a claud butler colour code? there's a few rust spots here and there and i'd like to match the colour as close as i can.

any informatin would be very much appreciated.

i got the bicycle bug about 40 years ago when i was living in san francisco. (hills? ... ha! i speet on hills ... ) i had a gitane 10 speed at the time and like an idiot, i gave it away when i moved to europe. i can't tell you how happy i am to have a genuine road bike back again. i also have an old-school mtb but aesthetically, it doesn't even come close to the gorgeous lines and proportions of my new-to-me, retro-road bike.

Welcome :). Photos would be nice. Nervex were makers of lugs and bottom bracket shells at the upper end if the market
