Vitus 979 - MK1 or MK2?

Hi all,

Picked up this "time capsule" Vitus 979 the other day - the owner said he'd only done approx. 350 miles on it in the 80's and then laid it up in the attic!

Frame number is F111870 - the size is not stamped on the steerer.

How can you tell the difference between a mk1 / mk2 etc?

Spec includes - Stronglight crankset, Simplex SX630 Rear Der & front changers, Campag seatpost & front der. Shimano Via hubs with Nisi tub rims, Modolo Corsa brakes / Modolo Speedy bars, Cinelli stem, Reydel GTi seat,

Best £75 I've spent in a while!!

Re:

£75!!!! wow - that's an amazing price! The saddle alone wouldn't be far of fetching that on ebay.

It's a MK11 - seatpost clamp area gives it away. MK1's used a standard pinch bolt.

Currently building one of each at the moment and wouldn't mind betting it'll be close to £800 i'll end up spending.

Cracking find, hope you enjoy riding it :)
