Hi...after any help!...

I've bought some mavic aksium wheels, with a ten speed shimano hub...but my bike is an 8 speed...with advice, Maths says I need a 1.8mm spacer, but Google naked it starts to make it sound complicated!...is it this simple our is there more to it? Or can I simply swap the 10 speed freehub for an 8 speed one?....

8 speed and 10 speed shimano cassettes should have the same overall width, the spec of the freehub body only changes when you get to 11 speed

BTW the mavic wheels have their own spacer, which you need for everything except 11 speed. (I believe it was originally to avoid patent issues with shimanos freehub design, lucky for mavic customers, it's the right size to convert to 11 speed!).
10 speed road also has a spacer. This won't affect you though.
