Roy Thame on the road

Re:

Could really do with some advise on gearing. I had 42/52 up front and 23/14 7 speed on the back and I was happy with that bar I didn't have the legs to ride the hills I like. A mate has leant me a compact 34/50 chain set but I can hardly notice the difference climbing and now changing from small to big ring seems a huge step up or down and I'm really not happy with it. Wheels are screw on not cassette and frame spacing is 126mm. Thanks Lee.

You can usually get 8 speed freewheels on e bay.I have a couple on bikes . They tend to be the cheap ones but up to press no problems
