Got this on Fleabay and any experts out there try and guess what it could be? Advertised as a Royal Enfield but did they use Reynolds or Accles and Pollock tubing. Tubes are double butted and lightweight.
Frame size is 22" seat tube and 23" crossbar.
Badge holes are 2 1/4" apart.
Clip type headset unmarked.
Bayliss Wiley oil bath bottom bracket.
Rear chain stays are unusual and telescopic welded and finished very well.
Front fork has no crown and finished very well, almost modern for something 30s. The fork insides are swaged.
No number on the fork steer tube.
The head tube had a bearing slip and ran inside the tube causing raised grooves but very good friend Lance Macormac at Romance of Rust fettled the grooves out.
Serial number 370602 on the left rear dropout.
Thinking it could be Claud Butler but not sure.
Enjoy it in its nakedness.
Simon.
