Merckx serial number help please

My first retro road bike

. Picked up a Merckx last week, has had a repaint and has Corsa Extra decals on. Anybody tell what model it is, year, etc from the BB serial number?
Have contacted Merck bikes but no reply as yet.

The P on the left of your frame is probably the model - a Professional.
The G above the numbers is the year - 1998.
The numbers probably refer to the production run number.

Never, under any circumstances, use cadre.org... Because then you will get an answer in which there is not even a bit of truth: P is not a model mark (none, especially Professional), it is a symbol used by Eddy Merckx Cycle employee (like all A,B,F,G etc), G series was produced in 1996-1998 (your copy comes from mid-1997) - at that time there were no more model markings (except XB, which meant Corsa Extra SLX (New) century geo). Your frame is the most likely Corsa Extra road racing geo (you haven't shown much in this picture).
