You will have to forgive a roadie newbie and aspiring vintage bike builder, but: What are quill pedals?

Quill pedals were one sided road pedals..........the quill was the upturned bit of metal on the outside. Track pedals had no quill.

I guess the use was to protect the foot if you slid the bike down the road.......ish !

Normally for use with toe clips and straps.and normally atleast one slow motion topple still strapped to the bike

these or a variation of these:

Still very widely available, ideal for a classic look :)

Brilliant, thank you gents.

As you can tell, I am still sourcing bits for my clubmans racer and pedals are next on the shopping list.

I already have some suitable chromed steel toe clips that my wife found at a local charity shop for a pound. Now all I need are the pedals and straps, and the bay is awash with suitable examples, so now I know what I am looking at, I can choose a suitable pair.

Are they really, how cool is that.

I'll check them out, but there really are loads on the bay and all pretty sensibly priced..... which is nice.
