great reliable post and cheap too, best if the flutes don't go into the frame as can let water in, but if only using it in the dry no worries...see if you can get an SR Royal they too are good.
 
Mid 80's ? how about a Shimano aero, a bit more expensive at about 30 quid but more of the era..

A bit of time with a polishing mop and that Kalloy may end up looking like a half decent post, and beats spending north of £75 for a Campag or Zeus post.
