....Bearing in mind i live in a 2nd floor appartment.

I used to just go out in the garden with a bottle of noxious paint stripper and let rip, However i dont have the luxury of a garden any more, so whats the best product to strip the paint from a frame that wont destroy my laminate flooring if things get messy...or am I asking too much?

Pay a shotblasters to do it for you - little more expensive, but hassle free and no getting covered in toxic gunk!

Second that. I've stripped many frames it seems, and each time it's 3-4 hours out of my day that could have been better spent riding.

I have a garden and paintstripper

trust me , get it done proper .

really stings your arms, takes ages, costs a bomb in paint stripper andmakes a bloody mess.

;)

The best way to do it is to blast it with fine walnut shell pieces. This is somewhat more tedious than sand but it leaves the metal under the paint unharmed. Of course if it is a relatively heavy gauge steel frame and rust is an issue then you might want something more abrasive but that usually isn't the case with retro rides.
