quill converter??

hi all does anyone know where i can get a quill to ahead converter?
problem is i need it to go from 1 1/4 quill to 1 1/8 ahead????
any one able to help on this?

I've seen the usual 1" quill to 1⅛" ahead and 1⅛" quill to 1⅛" ahead.

In fact they are the same, a shim is just used for the same size one.

Never seen on my searches since joining RetroBike a 1¼" to 1⅛" though.

Maybe use headset reducers and use a smaller steerer diameter fork already threadless ?

thats the option if i get some pace forks for it

well my new one has a 1 1/4 inch stem but i would like to be able to run a ahead stem and keep the forks on it
hence the converter
but all the ones i have found are for 1 inch or 1 1/8th not my size

there is a second option to this that im exploring as we speak

the 1 1/4" quill has an outerdiameter of 28.6mm and the ID of an 1 1/8" ahead stem is 28.6mm too so you need an adaptor with a constant 28.6mm diameter. shouldn't be too difficult to make if above is not the right one.

sheldon has a minimum order value of $100 for int postage
and the other one has a postage of $33.65 :shock: for a $30 part :roll:

might have found a way around this problem any way
