400mm forks on Klein Pulse Pro - too short?

Got a '97 Pulse Pro and am looking at rigid forks. I've been offered a very nice set of Cannondales but they're 400mm long. I'm pretty sure the Pulse Pro was designed for an 80mm travel fork so that equates to a 425 long rigid fork (I think).

Is a 400mm long fork going to be too short? What will it do to the handling?

mine came with 60mm back in the day but i upped it to 80mm after a year or so, always worked fine. Did you buy the frame off here?

erm in fact i'm pretty sure if you purchased it off a bloke in Aberdeen that is my old frame. 400 will be fine, be carefull with the steerer though, you need a fair whack on that frame.

That's good to hear. I did get it from a guy in Aberdeen, so it does seem like it's your old frame. Got some big plans for it, so keep an eye for my reader's ride thread (when I get round to doing it)!

Cheers,
Matt

frame was designed for 65-75mm travel. 400mm is too short but should still ride ok. 410-415mm would be better though. the frame was available with a rigid fork. maybe someone can measure the a-c distance?
