GT XCR / Idrive Bottom Bracket Removal

Bullpup

Senior Retro Guru
Good morning I have just joined the XCR / Idrive club having bought an XCR 4000.

Unfortunately it has a rough bb and of course the drive side threads are seized. The whole assembly has been removed and the threads are soaking in Wurth Rostoff.

I am a bit wary of applying significant pressure on the BB when fitted to the frame as all the force seems to be transmitted to the relatively small dogbone bolts.

What's the best way to proceed please?

Re:

Put it back together and remove it as normal. I worked in a G.T dealer for 17 years and we never had any problems removing them, even when they had been ridiculously over tightened in the factory.

The dog bone is more than up to the job.
