Araya rims

Hello mates! What do you think about Araya rims? And can you explain me what their numbers mean? Araya rm 20 is better than rm 17 which is better than rm 14?? How does it work?
Thank you very much!

Thank you guys! I'll read your links!
But what about your opinions about those rims? Are they good quality ones? Can I purchase something better with the same budget or little more?

I have RM20's on my Parkpre Catalyst, they are not as light as newer Mavic rims but they are very strong for a non-eyeleted rim. They suit an older style build well.

I have been riding them for years until recently, never once had an issue with them.
I still remember back in the early 90's racing DH on Araya XC rims

I have some RM25's.....

Me too, fantastic rims for bikes from the eighties.
Are they too vintage for a bike from 1993?

RM25 are to vintage, but RM20 with the green/yellow decal are good rims for 1993. Take a look at mombat timeline from 1993:

Rims: Specialized X23, Ritchey Vantage Comp/Pro/Expert, Mavic 231/234/321, Araya RM 400/TM-18/CV-7/RM-395/RM17/RM20, Ukai Breeze, Sun CR16/M14/Chinook, Bontrager BCX-3/BCX1, Campagnolo Stheno/Mirox, Tioga Disk Drive, Aerospoke

cheers
