LEFKAS GREECE '92

Hi

just found some old photos that reminded me of 'back in the day' !!!

I think it was April '92, Ssshockwave in Nottingham organized their
first MTB holiday to Nidri, on the island of Lefkas in Greece.

Around 40 bikers went and when we arrived all the Salsas, Manitous,
Mountain Goats, Bontragers etc etc and all the other cool stuff that
Ssshockwave sold back then were piled up on the back of an old farm truck
for the transfer to the hotel !!!

The pic Lefkas - Salsa, is me aboard my Salsa A La Carte about to run a sweeeet downhill.
The Manitou in the other pic is sadly not mine but was loaned to me whilst out there. That was a hell of a ride at the time - I wonder if any of those beauties have survived ???

Is there anybody else out there who was on that trip ??

I was there this Summer - on a boat at the North end of the island, rather than a bike. Thought it looked like good biking territory!

They've spent a shed load of (EU) money on the roads on the East coast of Lefkas. Would be a great ride, with trips off the beaten track thrown in ...

We were there on our honeymoon- Same hotel too. Pure coincidence.

But I rented a bike on 2 of the days. Couldn't get the missus to join me though.
