Bar Ends on a Hyperlite

Got some nice stubbie Onza bar ends to put on the Hyperlites for my Zaskar. A lot of the Hyperlites i've seen have crimped ends if bar ends are fitted. What's the best way to avoid this (aside not fitting them)?

Hyperlites originally came with 1" plastic inserts to reinforce the ends, but i don't have these.

Wasn't someone on here making up metal inserts for just that purpose?

Answer actually made some specific inserts - took me ages to find them for the Buck though....

I still have the box my hyperlites came in, they plastic ends might still be inside, I'll check when i get home

oak is quite hard

but wouldn't X-Lite bar plugs do the trick?

Got them in my hyperlites - didn't stop the crimping.

I reckon oak's the way forward. More retro too.
