Every now and then, there occurs a need to tart up a pair of faded neon HSxx, preferably RaceLines. And everybody has problems taking them apart entirely before painting.

It works for the brake levers, you can even put in a new o-ring.

But for the two break pistons it is not possible to take them out. The rod inside the pistons is pressed into the housing. It is a "one time" connection. I for my part just taped around the piston like seen in the pic. I did not sand blast the "inside" because that would damage the seal for sure. Its better to scrape that part by hand. Then, before painting, I used a thin paintbrush to cover the seal with a little bit of grease. That stops the fresh paint from sticking to the seal and destroying it.
