    Time Equipe pedals

I managed to break the spring in my right pedal on my commute to work this morning. I acquired a large box of bits for Time Equipe a few years ago, including springs. Anyone have experience of fixing these and can give me a steer? Richie

    Pedal of Honour, 3rd September

I registered my interest in this retro ride, 50 miles from berkhamsted and back. Has anyone else seen/considered/entered? Richie

    Simplex Retrofriction shifter failure

On my commute to work this morning I dropped into a lower gear, only to have the cable twang and shift to the smallest cog. It seems the nylon/plastic bush inside has given up, does anyone have a fix? I can replace the whole thing, but are parts available? Richie

The Pedal for PACE Sportive 2nd July

This is a charity fundraiser, run by Simon Ekless from PACE. It's not a retro ride, except for me in Super U colours, but many of you will know Simon from the cycle jumble he runs in Chalfont St Peter and also Eroica. It's 100km from Cuddington I think this year, and Simon picks good routes. You...

C-Record rear mech spring help needed!

A few weeks ago I pedalled over to Hemel Hempstead on a Saturday afternoon, a nice ride out and back from Gerrards Cross. Unfortunately, on the rise back up to Bovingdon the spring in my rear mech snapped, leaving me a single gear of 53/24 and a terrible chainline. You may know the spring in...

    Campaign C-Record saddle clamp

I've been having an issue with my saddle, finding that the seat clamp is shifting and my saddle is pointing its nose to the sky. Does anyone have a solution (short of buying a nos seat pin and clamp). I'm wondering if there's an alloy version of carbon paste that I might use? It's a problem, all...

not a bike, but to do with my favourite rider......

On holiday in the south of France last year we were going to St Tropez for the day, the easiest way there being by ferry from St Maxime. On the way back we were lucky enough to see the air display celebrating the 70th anniversary of the liberation of St Maxime, spectacular stuff, but on the way...

    painting an anodised frame?

I have three Cyfac 'Raleigh' frames, two of which are built and are my daily rides. Summer is Jean-Claude Garde's 753 frame from 1989 and winter is a 1990 653 Castorama frame. Obviously my winter bike gets some stiff treatment given the dreadful weather and roads spread with salt, and I'm...

PACE Cycle Jumble 2nd May 2015

A note for your diary, the November jumble has just passed but Simon at PACE has already booked the next one for 2nd May next year. I've now got so much superfluous stuff that I should probably take a stall myself....... richie

my friend Simon is arranging a ride on this vintage ride and festival as a fund raiser for The PACE Centre charity (they do a wonderful job and help one of my daughters). compliments, compliments.....

I popped out for my 50 minute lunchtime spin out from Staines and back today, riding what I've decided will be my winter bike, Cyfac "Raleigh" Super U wearing my usual Super U jersey over winter jacket. Stopped at the lights by Staines Bridge, a chap crossing the road looked twice and asked me...

    Robert Millar's carbon Vitus

this was an interesting read on The Washing Machine Post, you may already have seen it http://www.twmp.net/bob/tour_bike/ I was amazed at his memory, and also the fact that he rode 36 spoke wheels in the mountains. I'd assumed that 28 spokes were the way forward to get as light as possible...

Super U peloton at the Chiltern Cycling Festival, 13/7/2014?

I met the chap who is running this when I was at the PACE jumble on Saturday, he's a nice chap. I'm disappointed the retro ride is only 30 miles so I'm going to do one of the longer rides and just enter my grimy bike in the concours d'elegance, but it looks a good day all in. have a look, it...

just a quick line to "advertise" this on Saturday morning (I'm good at short notice!) it's a pretty big event as a fundraiser for The PACE Centre, a charity for children that one of my daughters benefits from. bargains galore are to be had, I picked up a good pair of C-Record/Wolber wheels...
