Downtube Friction shifters with ratchet mechanism for the drive side.

They are great bandon shifters, but they don't seem to fit on my braze on bosses, maybe Suntour had proprietary bosses for their shifters at the time. I have two pairs in the garage.

Downtube Friction shifters with ratchet mechanism for the drive side.

I've had a pair of the Dia-Compe silver shifter for a few months on one of my bike, yes, i'm impressed too, they seem to work extremely well, with plenty of cable pull. The Rivendell and the Dia-Compe silver shifters look very, very similar, I would be surprised if they are not the same product.

Downtube Friction shifters with ratchet mechanism for the drive side.

Is the ratchet mechanism on the Shimano 6400 in friction mode strong, my Shimano 7 speed SIS seem weaker compare to Suntour Power shifter. Suntour Power shifter diagram showing ratchet mechanism. Thanks for all the response.

Downtube Friction shifters with ratchet mechanism for the drive side.

I wondering what Downtube Friction shifters had a ratchet mechanism for the rear sprockets driveside. I know that Suntour power shifters, Simplex retrofriction, microShift and Dia-Compe Silver have ratchet mechanism for the driveside. Do you know of any others?

    Drop Bolts for Brake calipers.

Also, the Campag drop bolt looks superb, but they are rare and expensive. I'd say that the two hole DIY drop bolt idea will work fine for vintage side pulls too................. Personally, I'd look at buying some stainless steel marine bolt hooks with the two holes and cut the hook off, then...

    Drop Bolts for Brake calipers.

From Poland £36? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-NOS- ... 2185117206 I'd make your own, if you can. A piece of Aluminium, drill two holes, a bolt to fix to the frame in one hole, your brake caliper in the other hole. File and polish to look nice.

    Check those inner tubes....

Re: I wrap the inner tubes in a thick cloth bag before putting them into my saddle bag, due to the experience of finding inner tubes in my saddle bag that had holes in them made by pointy tools in the bag.

    Shimano 600?

If you change your Uniglide hub body to a Hyperglide hub body, sometimes you need a new cone for the axle because the cone is a different size on the new hub side. There are NOS Shimano 7 speed hubs on ebay, which have the complete hub body and correct size cones for the hub body side...

Info: Suntour Power Shifters can't be fitted using braze on

I tried to fit a pair of Suntour Power Shifters onto braze on fittings and could only make them fit by fabricating a back plate. So, the diagram is showing that the correct braze on connectors are needed.
