    2000 Kona Score Titanium

A mix of practical and uber cool. It looks like it'll fly off the screen. I'd love to sling a leg over it and give it some beans!

BoTM Bike of The Month March 2024 - now taking entries

It's a bold move given there are so many "purists". Kudos!

My Kona Hot TET before and after.

So I'll nail my colours to the mast. As more than likely this was an ex team bike, I'd have kept the frame as is. There's history, race pedigree history in the patina. It also reflects the unique decals and decals placement. Now, whilst the paint job looks lovely, it looks a pastiche. What...

So called big collectors belittling smaller.

I've seen a lot but I've never seen that. The closest would be some of the Pro's Closet approach back in the day, but that's water under the bridge long past. Moreover, what's the point of stressing over a hobby? Life's way too short for that!

BoTM BoTM February 2024 - UK Special. Time to vote

This was easy, and based entirely on the fact that the story and history presented is exactly what makes this site so special.

Open wide and say "AA......" - 1995 Kona AA

Drop bars? Errr  I'm chuckling imaging saying "ah ah" to the dentist

Kona Hei Hei - 199? Who knows.. a rapid assembly

Here's my take following a chat with your pal ;) Removed SNs usually indicate a dodgy past  Great to see an original red head tube HH too. Do you have the SN for that / is it already on the register...

State of the industry: a running thread

Yep, similar for me. Great for the basics, especially cleaning, lubes and tyres. I've just grabbed what's left that's half decent. eBay isn't great at the mo for sure, as discussed here.

The grim reaper came to visit me, Roberts content, be strong...

Echoing a few, the fact you're the original owner and it's served you so well, you've got the permission from the RB Gods to give it some proper TLC: new tube, new paint, the lot 👍

    1989 Roberts Phantom

These are the kinds of builds and stories are what make this site so special. Absolutely top-draw. Kudos 👍

Kona Titanium Serial Number List - update 26/02/24

Generally all the same finish per season/production run, not high polished or super shiny. From 1990 to about 1996 it was lightly brushed, a more muted finish (and my personal favourite). Thereafter it was less brushed but not in your face shiny. My theory is because they started painting the...

Kona Titanium Serial Number List - update 26/02/24

Lovely stuff and welcome to the best club in town ;) 👍 I've added her to the list: B17403 - Short Seat Tube Extension, complete original '94 Decals; confirmation 95 Geometry. As Pip explains, this was the period where Kona transitioned designs with Sandvick with the single season in 95...

    Retro bike racing

Good to have you back Mike. I have a horrible feeling that MM is over but like many, really hope it does return, at least one more time to celebrate Pat. I've signed up for the SWXC series this year and will be on the modern 29er but I'm half tempted to ride one of the oldies when the weather...

    1993 Kona Hot

Specialised on a Kona? I'm afraid that's a sending off offence. Off to the sin bin! I'm a RaceFace fan. They look the part and best of all, they peform. However, they are too late for a 93, so a really nice Sugino Mighty or, the M900 XTR set should look ace.
