    Carlton frame? Help please!

Re: Hi folks, come to the end of the road with Mercian. They consider it to be from the 60's-70's, a Campionissimo. In terms of no serial number being present they think it's been rubbed off over the years. Can't say i'm 100% convinced, but maybe that's as far as I can go. Many thanks for all...

Re: Reassuring to know, in a way, as obviously it's the key part of frame ID. Still their email is as good as... As soon as I hear from them i'll post the info.

    Carlton frame? Help please!

Re: mercian confirmed Hi folks, For those still interested mercian think it is a Mercian campionissimo. I'm just waiting to hear whether a frame can escape the workshop without a number and what decade they think it's from. Many thanks for your help. Now the fun part.....restoration! Gerald

    Carlton frame? Help please!

Re: I could settle for that for sure. It's not as though i'm going to sell it. My plan is to restore it as closely as possible to original and use it as my winter tourer. Just wish I had that serial number somewhere on the bike! Many thanks for your help.

    Carlton frame? Help please!

Re: So it could be an early 70's Mercian campionissimo. And the tubing; would that be a kind of 'gas pipe' standard steel?

    Carlton frame? Help please!

Re: The lugs look identical to the Mercian. A couple of small differences are my frame has no hanger for the pump or csble guides on the top tube. I was thinking 1950'S due to its weight. It was on bathroom scales; I might have snot her attempt tomorrow. I did think 531 but don't want to label...

    Carlton frame? Help please!

Re: As far as I can tell it hasn't been modified at all. The gear hanger seems original, as it matches the other drop out.

    Carlton frame? Help please!

Re: Lugs Hi Hope these come out all right, just sending them from my phone. It was the lug work the other chap thought might make it a Carlton. Many thanks for your help.

    Carlton frame? Help please!

Evening folks, recently someone gave me a frame with no marks or numbers on it. Made from steel the frame weighs 5lbs the forks 2.8lbs (approximate as I weighed them on the bathroom scales!) Someone on Bike Forum suggested it might be a Carlton because of the lug work. I've checked Carlton...
