Saw this 93' Rockhopper on gumtree, cheap enough, went saw and took away
Most parts well worn out, but frame and forks would be doners for a cheap retro parts build winter bike, nothing to worry about too much. Paint in reasonably good condition for the job in hand, and started cleaning in polishing, love the red and yellow decals.... IMG_20231215_134428.jpg IMG_20231217_113720.jpg

But...working on the chainstay felt some lumps under the none drive side.
Hoping for some dried on gunk turned bike upsisedown, šŸ˜± saw very lumpy red paint.
Wheel out, some poking and paint scraping, sadly FUBAR.
Got a nice red wall hanger, few parts and a good fork for possibly another future project. IMG_20231217_113848.jpg IMG_20231217_113936.jpg

šŸ«£ Probably the owner dinĀ“t notice that.

It could be repair adding new material with some welding and sanding and you will not notice. I would paint in another colour, because that red will never be the same. Probably I will repaint in black that area and the other side too to protect against rust.

cut out the rot and replace. If it's just a winter klunker you could just plate over it. looks like inside tin worm, nom nom nom.
