I've been gifted this Sony Reel to Reel recorder, 1971 vintage! Underneath the grime, looks like it will be in time-warp condition. I've powered it up and connected the speakers supplied with it and all seems fine. I haven't yet spooled a tape as I want to give the heads a going over.
The case is covered in black vinyl... any suggestions for cleaning this? also, the brushed aluminum sections ... what can these be cleaned with?

Fun fact, the reel of tape i have is priced at £2.10 ... £35 at today's price :LOL:

Soap, warm water, damp cloth,. Car products leave too much residue

Good old GT85 and a stiff brush will clean up the connectors

...TAPE....ah some of the best recordings of the 50s and 60s were on....tape.

...and the late, great Wilko Johnson once said '....and for all you younger people, a record is a whole bunch of downloads stuck to a piece of vinyl....'
