"Record Aces: The Raleigh/Sturmey-Archer Team 1936-1940"

http://on-the-drops.blogspot.com/2017/0 ... -team.html

This concerns the professional team put together by Charles Marshall to promote the new racing hub gears made by Sturmey-Archer c. 1936-40 by going after the R.R.A. road records in Britain. The riders were Sid Ferris, Bert James, Charles Holland and in 1939-40, Tommy Godwin going for the world's mileage record. In the end, the team held 9 of the 15 R.R.A. records as well as the alltime world's mileage record (Godwin) of 100,000 miles in 499 days. This record remains unbroken to this day.
