Gios Torino ?

Robinhood

Retro Newbie
I have recently acquired this bike. The frame appears to an old racing bike from the 80’s or early 90’s however it seems to have had a respray in more recent years. The decals are marked Gios Torino however iam not sure whether it is an authentic Gios frame. Can anyone help shed some light from looking at the photos? Unfortunately I can’t find any serial numbers printed on the frame to help identify.
If it is a Gio Torino frame, any idea how much it’s worth? Thanks

It certainly looks to be no later than mid-80s. I have my doubts as to it being a Gios.
Firstly, the cartridge BB is labelled 68 and 1.37x24 which makes it an English BB shell - Gios of that era used Italian shells, maybe they still do.
Secondly, the cut out lugs and scalloped seat stays - I've never seen a Gios with them, a slotted BB shell, yes, but usually only 2 slots, but I've never seen one with cut out lugs. Gios frames had a reputation of being on the heavy side compared to rivals, some people blamed on the lack of cut outs but it was more likely that being a traditional builder Gios used heavier gauge Columbus tubing for the downtubes and chainstays.

the distinguishing features for the 4 frames of that period are set out at

The Facebook page has frames accepted into the Historical Register as being genuine period Gios Torino frames

There are ample frames for visual comparison showing they display the distinguishing features of each model.
My Professional model is registered as N.153.
