Dirt Disciple
I just received an old frame that I was told is a 1955 CB. Can anyone tell me if it is indeed a Butler and what model and year it is?
Thank you

Hello @codydaniels sorry for the late reply, Christmas & all that.
Ok, so what have we got…
Well the full brazing, fluted stay tops, continental rear drop outs and that particular bridge combination all shout pre-1950
Also the number combination doesn’t fit the the 50’s lists
I would hazard a guess that 624453 could be this;
6 represents 1946
2 represents December (not Feb as frame count is too high and a lot of 40’s frame didn’t use the 10 digit for Oct-Dec)
4453 frame count would likely fit that year’s production.
Best ask @dwscrimshaw to check the lists

As for the model unfortunately we don’t have that years catalogue and during this period (post war 40’s) Clauds names & specs seem to deliberately change each year. Although saying that it’s very likely a “club” model & with those dropouts probably a “Continental Club” although possibly an “International Club” although that would need a gear lever boss braze-on on the right hand side of the downtube.
