This is a 1982 Batavus Professional. It is built in Heereveen, The Netherlands by Batavus' small frame shop. The Professional was for Batavus what the Champion Mondial was for Gazelle. The Champion Mondial range was wider: more types and more levels. Batavus Professional was mainly roadbike of the Champion Mondial AA or AA Special level. There have also been cycloscross and time trail frames. The frame was nice to begin with but there were many custom options available. For this frame it is the contrasting yellow headtube. Other options were internal routing, routing along the toptube, chrome socks, full chrome forks, race number holder etc. You could choose between Reynolds 531c or Columbus SP/SL. Later 531P and SLX came available. The Reynolds tubing frame have domed blade and stay ends, Columbus is flat.

A couple more pictures

The two cyclists on top the crown represent the Intercycle logo. Intercycle was the group Batavus was part of. The cyclist sit prety upright. Like on a Dutch bike >>

Two stickers of the lbs that sold this frame/bike originally are present on the frame. The frame was originally sold in Gendringen, in the east of The Netherlands (Achterhoek)>>

The plan is to build this frame the upcoming months. Currently I have some Campagnolo fitted, but I am undicided whether I go for this. The Nuovo Record headset and shifter came with this frame. I bought it about 12 years ago as full bike. Other parts included 1st generation Shimano Deore. Very interesting stuff, but it is a touring group while this frame screams for something racy.

Below another 1982 frame. In this case it is a Columbus SP tubing frame. There are several options:
- contrasting headtube
- internal routing for the brake cable
- chrome socks for the forks
- Shimano shifter mounts

Colour is bruin/beige parelmoer. You could choose from 6 or so colours.

Standard for all 1982 frames:
- chrome Campagnolo 1010B dropouts and ends
- chrome chainstay
- Bocama lugs with enameled cutouts
- Dardanne bracket
- pinstriping if you didn't opt for the contrasting headtube
