    1993 Ted Wojcik

I’ve tried my hand at painting on the logo; I have stickers on the way but may keep this until it fades. I’m pleased with the results and planning on another coat and then some clear nail polish on top.

    1995 Trek singletrack 990

Wow! I remember lusting after this one when it came out--the color was called "iced root beer." As someone who liked retro-type bikes even then, I thought it was by far the nicest bike they made that year (way more desirable than the OCLV bikes).

    1993 Ted Wojcik

Just picked up this ted wojcik frameset and am collecting parts for the build. I love the simplicity of these frames but also the subtle details (seat tube reinforcement, cable hanger bridge) and of course the really nice looking welds—virtually invisible. I’m planning a mostly m900 build...

    1993 S-works M2

Hey it’s mostly your fault I bought this frame and built this bike! Great thread . I’m in NYC so constantly searching the Craigslist ads of the surrounding metros. This one came from northern New Jersey. Saddle was probably the most attractive part of the donor (that and wheelset) but it is NOT...

    1993 S-works M2

Thanks, definitely lucky. In my area, Craigslist remains undefeated as the top place for really nice bikes that weren’t ridden much. In 1993, how do you buy something as seemingly specific as a stumpjumper with a bunch of top end parts and decide not to ride it—or at least not enough to have...

    1993 S-works M2

There have been a handful of really incredible M2 team editions on here recently—this isn’t one of those. But they made me remember how iconic those bikes were in the 1990s. So when I saw a 1993 frame on eBay with a very low starting bid, I gave it a shot and somehow won it without any...

    1992 Ibis SS project

Have gradually moved this to the “all black” scheme Prodigal Son suggested and I’m pleased with the results—it does set off the paint well, and it seems to suit the age of the frame. I also really like the simplicity of the thumbies—whole bike is really working harmoniously at the moment (which...

Annoying Thing #103,899: Missing plastic plug from an XTR M900 Shifter

Classic repro is selling them; seems expensive but maybe not as they say there are only three pair left: https://classic-repro.com/product/shimano-cap-combo-xtr-m900/?lang=en

    1985 Ibis Custom

Agreed re. "ahead of its time." Minus the swept back bars, saddle and a few other other markers it could easily be 5-6 years younger. Even the paint looks like a precursor to blue ano (but much, much nicer).

    1992 Ibis Mojo

Yeah, it’s not a p21 although their catalog from ‘92 (in the archives here) touts low weights. I have no idea where mine sits on the scales but I’d guess in the range of 24.5? I’ll get it on a bathroom scale one of these days to get a rough idea.

That’s a fitting theme for an nice old steel frame and I don’t think you’ll suffer much weight gain given the parts you’ve listed

    1992 Ibis Mojo

thanks! Rode it yesterday and overall, responsive and chuckable--easy to get off the ground. It was super wet and I wasn't all that confident cornering at speed, so looking forward to getting out again. the suspension benefits are negligible, of course. I'll keep you top of mind re the...

    1992 Ibis Mojo

6 months later, I’m pleased with this one. rebuilding the forks was a chore—threads on the first steerer I had were chewed up, and getting the original elastomers out was an adventure. but everything works, and it‘s a fun little (maybe a little too small) bike. I plan on riding this one a lot...

Mountain Goat Whiskeytown Racer 1990--new build

I rode this quite a bit last summer, and while I was torn over whether or not to keep the original (if faded) paint, I finally decided I needed to head off continued chips and surface rust. I had it blasted and powdered over the winter and just rebuilt it—mostly the same parts (7 speed xc pro)...

    “Yeti”

It had climbed up over $500.00 on 9 bids, presumably from optimistic people with very low-resolution displays.

    “Yeti”

How in the world are people bidding on this? I kind of hope whoever is selling it actually pulls it off: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Yeti-ARC-26-Mountain-Bike-Yellow-Blue-Black-Good-condition-/313515626051?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286

    Unknown very light steel frame.

There‘s an Italian eBay-er selling very similar looking frames. link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303854895969 https://ebay.com/usr/art-bikes From the “description” section: MTB Frame Produced by Mass - Mass is an italian brand and comes from the name of the buisness owner: Massetani. His...

Comparing the geometry/sizing to a 16” 1993 breezer. The bb on the ibis is about 1/2 an inch higher

    1992 Ibis Mojo

Re: Made a lot of progress on this and I’m pleased with how it’s coming along. I have a ti post that I’ll swap out for this aluminum number, need some new brake hardware to sort the rear cantis. Then it’s grips, chain and cables. And maybe a suspension fork?
