    Just to close, the distance from the CBB to C rear drop out is, like wobler's 17" A 700 sprint rim in the frame does seem to leave room for a mudguard - lines up with the eyelets on the forks and stays. Thanks Gus

    Hi, just picked up a frame today said to be an early Ernie Clements but it looks more like a Black Diamond by the lugwork and tops of the seat stays. All previous marks removed by previous owner in stripping down a terrible paint job. That may have been how it could have been miss represented...
