    Lets talk brakes..

Ohh this ones back. I've got Hope Mono Mini's on my new bike now, so I've gone hydraulic. Three more plus points for discs: 1) changing pads is much easier, and quick. 2) there's that nice smell after a long descent. 3) Bleeding is a bit of a PITA, but isn't required that regularly and...

    this convinces me ...

and thing is.. tyres for tubes are thicker. guy i bought my bike from was running a tubeless tyre with a tube in on the back as it stopped him getting punctures after he kept getting em at his local.. food for thought!

Re: Bought this lot of XTR goodies from velofrog. As other feedback indicates, arrived all nicely packaged - each item individually bubble wrapped, then all bubble wrapped. Cheers!

Growing hostility towards Mountainbikers and Cyclists

I find these stories about booby trapped trails appalling, it is a bit difficult to police when the trails are off limits outside events but doing things that could maim or even kill aren't the answer. Thankfully my local haunt is The Quantocks (mostly the combes at the north end) where there...

help identifying a Alu frame with carbon rearstays

Love a 10 minute google-fu challenge, and think I have have found something super close. check out the rear dropout area. only thing is, the lower arm isn't exposed carbon too. other than that its pretty much spot on, so could be a similar model, or a model from a year either side of this...

Thanks, I'm stoked and wishing I could get out on it more :) looks like i've got another mate getting a bike in about a month, so i'll have 3 separate groups of people to ride with, as well as being on my own. I've probably spent another 100 on tyres, tubes, new locking grips, the seat post...

    Re Chinese Titanium Frames

yup, and exactly the same practices and cork sniffing snobbery exists with the guitar world too.. for example. fenders product lines: usa > fender jpn > fender mexico. squiers fender product lines: jpn -> korea -> india/indonesia -> china story goes the korean factories (samick and cort)...

    Shimano M737 cassette compatibility

This piqued my interest as I found some compatibility charts related to freehubs when looking at a bike that had an issue with its freehub (lesson there was, avoid older XTR hubs) didn't find much about this apart from : http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic ... ette-issue

full sus recommendations please (lightweight for xc use)

Went for a little ride yesterday. Parked low, I really struggled climbing up to the top of Quantocks. However the bike was awesome, its light, chuckable, climbs really well and i've got more grip - places where my hard tail would spin I found a breeze, and it has better traction through the...

quick update. forgot to mention the guy raced xc and was once sponsored. bike was built to order after the (non mtb) accident. he did race on this too (not like he used to be able to he says).. he also used to work in a LBS, so its meticulously maintained. almost everything is 'race face'...
