    1994 Merlin pic's done today

This is totally right in my book! By using modern parts were they really make an improvement on the riding quality is the best way to realize how good this frame really is. I ride my 94 Merlin every day to work an it's a a joy in any wether. If I had a modern 1inch fork I would sertanly use it...

Hopefully it'll be worth the wait. Most of the stuff was already packed but I managed to nick one more 1" Ritchy forks. Instead...

I will go there again soon and look thru this store properly, then I can report if this place is really worth a trip. These guys have been in buisness about 20 years. They have been buying stock from bankrupt stores so they have shelf after shelf with alsorts of bike komponents, both new and...

Need to make a correction about the prices. I made a mistake in the conversion from Swedish currency to US dollar The brakes and forks costed $40 each, still a nice prize for something this rare. Brake cable was $4

    NOS Merlin 1989

Hi I went to this obscure bike shop today. They stock thousands of old parts from the latest 3 decades. I came quite late because I was lost on my way out there, so I had only about 30 minutes before closing time. I asked if they had any really old cantilever brakes and he went behind into the...

    NOS Merlin 1989

Hi I called the first owner of the 89 Merlin today. He was really sad he never know that it was up for sale, he would have bought it back on the double. He was cool about it though, and I didn’t offer him to buy it from me He remembers most details about the frame and the build. The build...

    NOS Merlin 1989

Hmm, we need to sort this out. The first Flite Saddle I bought was in -92' one with white leather and Ti rails. The next one, -94 was in grey leather and Ti rails. Those two saddles looks exactly the same as the black one that came together with my -89 frame. The rails are low and this was...

    NOS Merlin 1989

I'm not sure I agree on the saddle, the Turbo was launched 1980 and the Flite 1990. Sure the Ti rail came first two years later. If you buy a frame made 89 and then collect parts for a while after, you most likely choose something new and not a ten year old design. Don't forget, this bike wasn't...

Are ODI mushroom's with ball ends ok or should I use the hexagonal Ritchy foam grips that was included? Compared to the XT cantis, the Sissor brakes are a breeze to set up.

When I'm finish with the -89 I'll start building the -94 to her original configuration. She rides so nice on my everyday commute the way she is built right now, but I guess the original spec will do as well. I'll change back wken the roads get full of snow and salt. Stockholm city is a mess...

    NOS Merlin 1989

O yea! I remember this brand and sertainly those ads. Make me wonder if my handle bar and stem could be from the same brand. The first owner stripped of all logos and stickers from most of the parts. The shapes looks identical. I'm still a silver/Ti guy, hate black parts! Thank you for...
