    New Country, New (old) Bike.

Well.... I haven't had a bike since I moved to the US just over two years ago, and I was in a charity shop and saw this Diamond Back Topanga for sale for $20. So I picked it up :-) It's well maintained all though I think the cantilevers have to go due to a broken plastic ring (I've seen this...

    Went AWOL .. moved country

Hi, Just thought I would say hi setter a few years. Basically went AWOL as I could no longer ride since I moved to the USA. Now went into Walmart and saw done 700cc bikes and got me interested again. Will need to find something decent used around here as I am hopefully not buying a BSO lol.

SolarStorm X2 XM-L LED Bike Light

Full Disclosure: Moving to the USA next month (mid November), so selling my light I bought in the height of summer lol. (Means I've only used it a few times). If this makes you uncomfortable, simply don't buy. (I have very good feedback on other forums, and can easily prove who I am etc)...

Help me find a middle chain ring please (2008)

Hi guys, So I've finally repaired my Scott Sportster P3 2008 model after having the entire chain/rings/spokes munched and started riding again. However, after a painfull gear slip, it seems that my middle chainring is screwed. I'm on the lookout for a Shimano middle 36T chainring that is...

Just destroyed rear mech, spokes and hanger (Scott P3)

Well... will put a pic up in a bit.. but just came to a screeching halt at about 30mph on a main road when for some unfathomable reason my rear mech ripped off (or was caught) and ripped half my spokes up jamming the rear wheel. I'm now in the position to replace the rear hanger (it's cracked...

Looks like the j-bend at the hub end has broken off. I'll be seeing you chaps at Halfords for another replacement spoke *Sigh*. lol.

Be careful out there with ice! (Yes, I had a tumble)

I got caught out in Plymouth on the cycle path by Marsh Mills Roundabout on Tuesday morning. Yellow lenses, I didn't see the ice/frost covering. Before I even knew what had happened, I was face dowon the floor out of breath and stunned. As I was clipped in, I assume I just went even quicker...

    Damn punctures

Way to a friends house, and about 5 miles from house, and with a long uphill section coming up.. in the pitch black of the cycle path by bickleigh... got a puncture. Luckily I had a slime tyre so it sealed partially. Was a 'get you home' moment. Repaired it in the afternoon today, and it...

Hybrid Tyre choices for 'rougher' stuff.

So I have a hybrid bike.. and it's currently shod with a conti double fighter II on the front, and a no-name on the back. Both are skinny. I want to take on some of the stuff at Haldon Trail place in December, and wondered what sort of tyre I could get away with on the Hybrid for this...

    Clipless pedals. The Hilarity!

So I ordered myself some Shimano 520 clipless pedals and cheap muddyfox SPD compatible shoes. Let me first say... I'm NOT an experienced cyclist. The feeling of not being in control... oh my gosh. I had them at the default settings and couldn't get a shoe out.. and fell to the wrong side...

    I hate you all...

..because now I've been looking at this section since Friday, and now I want a late 80's or early 90's BMX ! 8) No real money, certainly a total lack of skill for any kind of tricks.. but darn.. they look cool. Really liking the Raleigh Burners :-)

Chain skipped cog, mullered/broke rear spokes on way to work

At the time, I have to admit, I just laughed out loud at falling off. Doing about 15-20 mph, down shifted and started to brake for a sharp turn and guard rails... and chain jammed in between cog and spokes. Rear locked up, swung out, and I just managed to keep on running as the bike threw me...

    Lead acid battery charging question

Hi chaps, I am still waiting for all my 'bargain ebay lights' to turn up from ebay (Hong Kong), and whilst rummaging around I came across an old UPS battery from a UPS that my dad dropped out the boot of his car, so I ditched the casing and kept the battery for a few year's. It's a...

    Rear v-brake binding slightly

I've got a Scott Sportster P3 2008 model that I've just purchased second hand. The rear v-brake is binding slightly on one side so the wheel is not free turning. If I use the adjuster screw on that v-brake itself, the brake block just goes towards the tyre, rather than away from the metal rim...

Baggy shorts fitment of inner liner

Hi guys, I tried on a pair of large muddyfox urban shorts last night for fit. The silicone leg grips did not fully seal on my legs and the inner liner and padding were hanging down about 2 - 3 inches from my groin. Should the pad be tight against me in these type of shorts, or should it...

WTD: Alexrim G6000 or XC-44 DISC 700cc/29er built wheels

WANTED After complete disc wheels for a hybrid bike (Sportster P3 2008), so I can convert from v-brake to disc. Looking for either the Alex G6000 disc version, or the Alex XC-44 disc version please. (Unless someone in the know can safely say I can convert my v-brake G6000's to disc G6000...
