    Work bikes

My Claud Butler Virago gave up the ghost a few weeks ago when the frame cracked at the seatpost after 15 years and probably about 18k with minimal maintenance. Still, it cost me £10 in the first place. Now picked up this Giant ATX 860 for £50 and moved the bits over for my favoured setup -...

Panaracer Duster II tyres - now £20 the pair

£20 the pair + £4 p&p or collect in Glasgow. These came on my 1997 Diamondback Apex. I purchased the bike in October 1997 when I received my student grant. I had a couple of long (25 mile) rides with these tyres around rural Oxfordshire before switching over to a pair of to WTB Velociraptors...

    Diamondback Apex help

Progress painfully slow. Forks on. Rode it on trails for the first time at the weekend and felt great. Controltech seatpost sourced today. Next steps are a decent 110mm stem and a nice Flite. I'll maybe keep my full XTR 950 ambitions on hold for the moment.

Functional, robust, cheapish, rear wheel - not fussy.

I'll go with the Parallax hubs because I've got those on my Diamondback and they are still good 15 years on...

Is hub smooth and rim straight? If so, that would be great. Give me a pm and can work out payment etc. Cheers

I'd be happy to take these. I've been looking for a spare one. Would paypal be ok?

Functional, robust, cheapish, rear wheel - not fussy.

I comprehensively trashed my (rubbish) rear wheel on my work bike today. It already had a slight buckle. Riding into a munro, got a pinch flat near the start and just kept on riding. 16km on rough tracks mean it is well and truly dead. Ok, so I'm really just looking for any reasonably...

    Specialized Airwave 1996 Helmet Blue

I purchased this in 1996 at the same time as buying a much loved and long gone Diamondback Topanga. It comes complete with replacement unused spongy bits and a black visor that attaches using the velcro on the front of the helmet. Box s the box that I'll use for posting it. It has been...

    My 1996 DBR Axis R

These were such lovely looking bikes. I distinctly remember the now defunct bike shop in Prestwick Road, Ayr that had one of these hanging in the window for well over a year. How I wanted / ogled that bike. I eventually got my 1997 Apex (same frame I think), but I always loved the paint job...

Pub Bike within delivery / collection distance of Dundee

A favour for a mate to see what is out there. He's an avowed roadie, but is looking for a cheap bike meeting the following fairly undemanding spec: Mountain bike for going to pub / Tesco Non-BSO, steel framed bike in the 16 - 17.5" inch range (he's 5' 7 " so this is a guesstimate as to...

Daugs' Marins (previously "hi, first post")

Hi, welcome. Sounds like an easy fix might be to put a shorter stem on it? A lot of the stems from the 1990s are, say, 130 - 150mm so you might find putting on a shorter stem with a slight rise (or a shorter stem with riser bars) might make a big difference to the comfort of the bike?
