Shimano Rear Mech Problem.

Continuing my modest refurb.......Noticed the 600 long cage rear mech top pivot spring tension was very weak, so unbolted it and found that the spring was dislodged caused by a missing circlip that fits on the end of the mounting bolt holding it all together.

Been to 2 LBSs and have been told "cant do it, no circlip buy a new rear mech" .

Have had a good search on tinternet but no joy, any ideas.

Thanks, Pete.

Ive made a circlip for this before.
you need a normal washer slightly smaller inner diameter of where its going to fit. Cut a section out of the washer and press it in with pliers like you would any circlip. Seemed to work fine for me.

Go to the local council dump, find a crap bike with a Shimano rear mech and get the circlip out of that. I used an STX one on an XTR mech with no worries. One of my XT mechs is currently running the STX jockey wheels.

If you get desperate, just post in MTB wanted for a worn out/broken Shimano rear mech, someone is bound to have one for the cost of postage.
