as an act of frustration after not getting the Kilauea, I bought this bike on Ebay. :)

Bike was located near to me so collected it the next day. Well used but with all OE parts still on it.

a bit dirty & shabby. All cable liners are broken and the rear shifter was not downshifting any longer (old sticky grease). Removed every part of it and gave them and the frame a good clean & polish. Fitted new cables and liners, brake pads and BB as well as a new chain. Rear shifter was also fixed and everyting put together.

Thats the result:

I have to out myself as a TREK fan :) Like that bike in particular. Short test drive yesterday. After setting the correct seat hight everything fits perfectly and the bike feels very good. What else you want ?

Will change the tires, as they are 15 years old. Any recommandation for a classic looking blackwall modern tyre ?

Thats cool, I like old treks

On ebay uk I found some tioga psycho edge/tt tyres. Should be delivered soon, but they seem a nice retro ish blackwall tyre.

nice....my first proper bike was a 1990 trek 8000 and had a soft spot for them since.....good to see it.....

I like Treks also. I own 2 at the moment - one MTB and a roadie. The road bike (a 1991 1420) has the same tube set as yours Easton E9. Very comfy for Aluminium as it isn't a big oversize tube.

Been trying to keep an eye out for bonded 8000 or a 8500 but I think my wife'd shoot me if one appeared in our garage!
