Got this late last week, was pretty much original I understand bar saddle seatpost and outer chainring. However the rear mech was a bit floppy so I swopped it for a non period LX I had spare and while I was at it also changed the saddle for a battered Rolls and the plastic coated front canti for an old XT (for some reason I only had one - serendipity?).

Have had a quick ride around the garden and it feels fine - it's certainly a sturdy machine!

Also got me thinking - originally came with a silver post and black stem - when did the trend for matching stem and post colour really take hold as at one point it was certainly 'the law'.

Ace purchase, Ticks a good few retro boxes for me.

Interesting the matching thing, I think that the posts were like LOOK ALLOY, and being uppy downy by nature they just came raw, just like alloy wheels, Stems still Cromo needed paint. I think we all just got a bit fussy and anal after that! :LOL:
