I think I’ve got a spare pair of original Claud grips in the spares box if you’re interested in going catalogue correct.

I think the ones on it are original? - quite solid black with a not quite round profile? The ends have been taken off for the bar-ends though.

Cool, sounds like you’ve got the originals already (photo below) these were around from 1989 to 1992.
It wasn’t until 1993 that they sprouted horns.

Peachy - did you establish what year these are? I've seen 89 & 90 mentioned.

It’s possible that a few were made near the end of 1991, as they were only ever advertised in the 1992 Catalogue which would have been printed in November 91.

Check the date codes on the Shimano kit.

Over 2 years ago @retrobikeguy put me on to this 16” teal Cape… now it hangs nicely but it’s not ridden as @Our Jimmy has long since outgrown it.
But a few weeks ago Lee came to our rescue, he’d found an 18” version of the same year (‘92) and posted it up for Karma… well, it would be rude not to wouldn’t it?

Picked it up today from York & quickly compared frames as soon as I got home. I’m glad to report that the top tube is at least 2” longer, the rear triangle lots bigger, but the head tube is exactly the same 4” 😁
So, as this frame is pretty rough paint & graphic wise I think I’ll get it powder coated black, swap all the kit over and then fix the pretty little Pearl teal/turquoise 16” up on the workshop ceiling. 😎
